How do people often express the idea that the future is pre-determined and beyond your control?
I've got 'well, what will be, will be' but I'm sure there's others.
This is quite interesting. Authority A reckons that the idea that the future is pre-determined and beyond your control is pre-modern, but I don't think I agree. I mean, she's probably right that fewer people attribute that to the fact that the gods or ancestors have set it all in motion, but I think that idea still hangs around.
I suppose I ought really to look for proper evidence of this, rather than just saying 'people often say' which is a bit of a cheat.
