No. 1 in a (very) occasional series.

Anything on an Early Pregnancy unit or ward.  I’ve spent my fair share of time in these places and they are SO stressful.  The waiting room is full of people in varying degrees of anxiety because you only go there if you’re bleeding or having potentially dangerous pain or have a crappy reproductive history or ( Read more... )

or the women in the EPMU are being fasted in case they need surgery and are grumpy beacuse of that as well as all the stress of needing to be in an EPMU ...
I saw an absolutely lovely gyneologist in the EPMU one nice nurse and one very abrupt/un-careing seemimg one. It was years and years ago now so i'm not sure how much they have changed.
My experinces of gynecologists seeing me and others for gyne-problems are very, very mixed. There has certainly be tendancy to focus on the physical aspcects over any emotional ones. I remember being so grateful when one otherwise rather condsending gynecologist said that i shouldn't have to put up with chronic pain that i got slightly tearful. But a friend with gyne-area pain they coyuldn't explain and herefore couldn't treat wa treated very dismissively by another doctor in the same unit - it was only when i asked if there was a pain-clinic she could be referred to that they considered the possibility and he had to ask colegues of one even existed!
I've also founb that my endometriosus is treated s being acute much more than chronic. After i have had both laproscopys and been "scooped out" i've been discharegd and had to go back through GP reffereals if i've had further issues. They haven't been able to give me any advice which might stop/delay reoccurances so the seem to ignore the liklelyhood that it will come back. And they haven't been able to be helpful discussing they impact on my future fertility (i'm happy(ish) to be told that they genuinely don't know put it would be nice to duscuss the possibilities and have some emotional support around that)
