OK, people at work have pushed me very close to my breaking point. I mean, it is freaking retail-things shouldn't be this complicated, this stressful, this annoying. How hard is it to know when you're scheduled to work, show up, and fold some f'ing t-shirts? I have done is hundreds of times over these past 9 months...so I think you newbies can suck it up and do it for the summer.
Two people are really wearing on me. This guy, when he bothers to come in, sits on his ass, talks on his cell phone, talks to friends, etc. See? Nothing about doing work is mentioned here because he doesn't do anything! He came very close to getting fired last week (I swear he stole a t-shirt from us), but he managed to freaking talk himself out of it somehow.
And then there's this girl, who is basically the female version of the above-mentioned guy. She listens to her iPod all the time, no mater what, sits and does puzzles, leaves without saying where she's going, and basically refuses to fold t-shirts (um, hello, it's a clothing store!). Today she kind of pushed me over the edge. I had to work with her a couple of days last week, and it was crappy. Thursday it was just the two of us, and I was trying to get a ton of internet orders processed so they would make it to their destinations in time for Father's Day, but I spent a lot of time correcting the many mistakes she made when filling the orders. The girl can't/doesn't read. I don't know what the deal is. So I was already stressed from all of that, and then I get stuck with her today. She was making personal calls on the phone, running out to go to the post office, wandering around outside...she basically did no real work the entire 6.5 hours she was there. Then she brought the mannequins in 5 minutes early. I'm sorry, but if the boss drives by and sees that the mannequins aren't out and it's not 5 p.m. yet, it's me who's going to get bitched at. So I said to her (probably harsher than I meant, but I was really worked up at this point): Just for future reference, we don't bring the mannequins in until 5! The other girl I was working with said this girl had a study session to get to right after work-fine, no problem! Tell me, and then when the clock hits 5, you can walk on out; the other girl and I can bring in the mannequins. Seriously. If you don't know the process for something, ASK!
I am just so annoyed by these people. It's retail-I expect stress from customers, but having to deal with incompetent coworkers has worn me out completely. I just need to remind myself that I ony have about 6 more weeks of this mess.
Rant over.
Hopefully...
