Yep. I got the final decision from my new employer this afternoon. They took my demand for salary, and added 25% to it. Nice move. I'll almost make as much working for the government as I did in the private sector as a consultant.
I have printed my resignation letter and signed it. It's here next to me on my desk. My dearest friend at the office just got back from her hometown today, I picked up her and her bf at the airport this morning. She was going to do the final negotiation now around the circumstances of her being fired. At the same time the boss came down to my desk to summon her to his office, he asked me, casually, if I was free in two weeks for a possible presentation at a clients place.
I tried to muffle a laugh. My friend turned to me - well knowing my plan to turn in my letter of resignation after she's done the final negotiation. (I don't really want to lessen her chances by upsetting him with my resignation before her negotiation.) - and exclaimed: "I think you're pretty free that day, aren't you?" with the biggest smile.
I tried once again to muffle a laugh.
More info to come. I am quite happy now either way.
