Dropped menstrual cup in bathtub?

May 01, 2019 10:14

Help! I dropped my menstrual cup in my dorm’s bathtub (shared by 4 people), but I don’t have gentle soap so I just rinsed it off with cold and warm water and put it back in. Am I at risk of infection? I’m a huge worrywart!

It and you will be fine. You will put far more "germier" things into your vag throughout your life.

I guess my main concern is that the menstrual cup stays in the vagina and blocks the opening for up to 12 hours at a time, so germs have more time to incubate. Do you think it’ll be fine?

It’s really reassuring to hear that, thanks! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for signs of infections, but I feel a lot better about it now. :)

I think that’s fine. I dropped my cup in the toilet the other day when emptying it. I washed it with water (i’m scared of soap near genitalia) and popped it back in. I’m still alive with no adverse reactions and i assure you, that was not a super clean toilet.

That’s great to hear, thanks a bunch! I’m a new menstrual cup user so I’m definitely in the germaphobic phase (like I was with contact lenses at first).
