This is my second cycle using the mooncup. My first cycle I used it on my lighter days to get used to it and this cycle used it right from the start since I figured I'd got the technique right and knew what I was doing. Wrong! My first light day was great, and I used it overnight with success. However, I used it yesterday on a heavy day and had a nightmare. I felt like I was in the bathroom every hour emptying the damn thing. I gave up in the end and used a tampon. I'm trying again today and after only having it in for an hour and a half it had started leaking. When I took it out it was just over half full. I can't understand why it doesn't leak from the beginning. I've checked the direction my cervix is pointing in to make sure I've not got the cup angled so it completely misses the cervix and I'm making sure I angle the cup correctly. My cervix is usually quite high, but during my period its more of a medium height. The cup is opening and it has a good seal. Could it be that my cervix is sitting in the cup and taking up some room?
My periods are quite heavy anyway on the second and maybe third day, but by the fourth it's light and usually stops by the evening of the fourth day. I do have a copper iud but I wouldn't say it's increased my flow massively. I'm also under 30 and haven't had any children.
Are there any suggestions of cups that would suit me better? I've looked at the meluna large but don't want to spend the money if it's just going to be the same as the mooncup.
