Help please

I am currently using my very first cup, or trying to at least. The cup I have is the Luna cup in small. I am in my 30's and have children but I am very small down there so I opted for the small one. I am having non-stop problems and I am at the end of my rope ( Read more... )

Start by reading http://kuradi8.livejournal.com/ Don't follow the directions to wear it "down low." The illustrations make it seem like it should be at your vaginal opening. Nope. If it still wants to escape then your PC muscle is probably weak and you will have more success after you've toned it.

After doing some very gross exploring I think I have found I have a very low cervix that is like almost directly inside of my vaginal opening. At least I think it is my cervix. Squishy area that I can run my finger around both on top and on bottom with it being in the middle...sound right? If so I might finally have my cup inserted properly but idk. It's more comfortable. Everything I read kept saying push back toward tailbone and everything so that's what I was doing but it wasn't working, is this due to it being so low? I think I remember my Dr. telling me once that my cervix was low. Anyway, if that is my cervix how does it not just fill the cup up? Might be a stupid question but oh well lol.

I'm a new user too! I'm sorry your experience hasn't been great so far. I'm curious to hear you call your exploring "gross", which makes it sound like you're reluctant to get right in there. Maybe squat down in the shower and have another go? (That's what I did a week ago just to kind of scope out the situation and do a dry run of my MC placement) I've been told I have a low cervix too, but it's still a good finger length inside. It'll feel like a hardish nub.
Another idea might be to go to your doctor or gyno and ask for their help to get to know your cervix, or Google the beautifulcervix website to give you a better idea on what you're looking for!

Well, normally I wouldn't call it gross but since I am on day 2 of my period it was sort of gross lol. My cervix isn't this low when I am not on my period so doing a dry run doesn't help. From what I understand your cervix changes all the time and will be at a different spot early in period and in later period. When I am not on my period it is a finger length inside of me, never felt while on my period though so I had no clue that it went this low during this time of the month. It is low enough that now that I have the cup in the proper spot the bottom of the cup barely clears my vaginal opening. I can put the tip of my finger in and feel the cup. I assume it will be different after my heavy days are done and I will have to figure it all out again.
When I did this on a dry run placement was super easy and got it the first time.

My cervix has already moved back some. Anything to confuse me I think LOL. Now that I can find my cervix though, this is GREAT!!!!

I think you should go spelunking for your cervix again. Although some women have low cervixes, most don't find their cervix just past the vaginal opening. If you're missing your cervix that could explain problem #1. I think you can probably get this cup to work better by finding your cervix and aiming the cup at it. It might be off center and that might explain the leaking.

On the other hand, #2 might be due to needing a larger cup. I think having a cup fall out happens due to looser muscles and that a larger cup usually helps. If you had a wide cup and it still happened I'd second the idea about needing kegels, but I think it's worth trying a larger cup first since kegels don't result in quick changes. If you still have trouble after trying the tips above and from other commenters, think about a wider cup, maybe a bell shaped one? Fleur cup is often an inexpensive bell shaped option. But I don't know the Luna cup so maybe it is already bell shaped?

Don't give up! It takes lots of people a few cycles to work it out.

It is my first time using the cup too. I'm on my second day period now and I started using yesterday. I have leakage too and have to wear a pad. Sometimes it really hurts to insert my fingers for adjusting the cup. Although easy once they are in. The stem of my Lunette is also poky and causing friction when I walk or exert pressure. Is it normal? I hope there comes a day when I do not have leaks.
