Iris Cup First Impression Review and Pictures

I've been using menstrual cups for 2 1/2 years now, mainly the small Fleurcup, but have had trouble with leaks and insertion recently, even though the cup was not full. I usually have a very light flow- the small Fleurcup with a capacity of 20ml is only at most 2/3 full (14 ml) at the end of a 12 hour period, usually only 1/3 full (7 ml).

I decided to buy the Iris cup because of the price, it's only $15 USD on Amazon.com, and because it said it was stain resistant, I also did not think I needed a high capacity cup, just something that would be easy and comfortable to insert.

I'm a 24 year old female, never had any children, or have been pregnant.

Review: The cup came very quickly, in a box with a cloth pouch. The box was a little smashed in the shipping process, as it was shipped in an envelope, not a box.

I purchased the SMALL size, in clear.

The first thing I noticed was that the cup had holes that were not all on the same level.
There are 6 suction holes. The stem is round and hollow. The cup does not have an even thickness of silicone. The bottom of the cup is thinner, and around the rim of the cup it is thicker. What felt different to me in this cup, compared to my Fleur, was the texture of the silicone. The Fleurcup has a very grippy silicone. I usually use my Fluercups (I have large and small) inside out, and have no problem with removal.

The texture of the Iris cup is very slippery, and the grip rings around the stem are very soft. However, I did not have a problem with removal at all, as the end of the stem came to the entrance of my vagina. I did not feel irritation from the stem at all, the stem is very soft.

This cup has a capacity of only 15 ml (small size), and it seems to be about the same in size to my small Fleurcup, but with a different shape, while my Fleurcup has a capacity of 20 ml. I did experience leaking after 12 hours, because it was full, that's no fault of the cup's- I just needed a higher capacity cup for the heavier flow.

I really enjoyed using this cup and will go to it over my Fleur for my light days, the insertion and removal was a breeze and when the cup was not full I did not have any leaks what so ever!
