A new cup? Advice?

Well, I've been using a diva cup for about three years now. The seal is great, I've never had any problems with leaking or anything. I don't find it to be too long because I'd say I have an average to high cervix, it does drop a bit when I'm on my period but still I'm unable to reach it. The only problem is, like other people have said before, the ( Read more... )

It sounds like you probably want something softer. Since your cervix is high enough for the Diva, you may like the Si-Bell--extremely soft, and the cup itself is not super long but the stem is, so it won't get lost inside you (overall length is at least 5cm longer than the Diva but the stem's really thin so you don't feel it). Other long but softer options are the NaturalMamma and Lily (which has no outer rim at all). There's also the Rainbow, which is almost as soft as the Si-Bell and has the same overall length as the Diva.

The first cups I tried were the Meluna Classics and the rim put so much pressure on my urethra that I almost couldn't pee at all while wearing it. It also took 3 hours to remove because I didn't realize that I had a very high cervix...lol

Yes, the medium MeLuna is a LOT shorter than the Diva. And it sounds like your cervix might be dangling into it. If you haven't already, compare the dimensions of the cups at http://sizecharts.livejournal.com/ (or any of the other charts at the Community FAQ) and decide if maybe something in between might work better for you.

As for popping open, MeLunas only have two tiny anti-suction holes. You might want to enlarge them and/or add a couple more. Most other cups have 4 holes -- and a couple have 6. Or maybe different cup, different insertion technique. There is a link to Answers to Common Questions at the size charts. Maybe you'll find some helpful hints there?
