I don't find it to be too long because I'd say I have an average to high cervix, it does drop a bit when I'm on my period but still I'm unable to reach it. The first cups I tried were the Meluna Classics and the rim put so much pressure on my urethra that I almost couldn't pee at all while wearing it. It also took 3 hours to remove because I didn't realize that I had a very high cervix...lol

As for popping open, MeLunas only have two tiny anti-suction holes. You might want to enlarge them and/or add a couple more. Most other cups have 4 holes -- and a couple have 6. Or maybe different cup, different insertion technique. There is a link to Answers to Common Questions at the size charts. Maybe you'll find some helpful hints there?
