New Diva Cup

Feb 25, 2010 12:54

I'm a first-time cup user and I am having issues with a new size 2 large Diva Cup. I already regret purchasing such a large size because my cervix sits pretty low during certain days of the month and my cup doesn't come anywhere near to being full during my period. I'm using the cup for the first time this week and my cervix is nearly an inch from ( Read more... )

trimming the stem: some around here mention filing the stem or beveling it in addition to trimming it shorter. I've used a metal nail file on all three of my cups to soften what's left after complete removal of the stems.

light/brownish colored liquid leaking: could be what has been termed 'residual slobber'. that there will almost always be a little fluid on the vaginal walls after inserting your cup. i either wear a cloth liner on my heavy days or on my light days i wipe more than once after insertion and wear dark underwear.

good luck. someone else will probably chime in with better advice.

Yes, turning it inside out can be a permanent solution. I've been using my Diva inside out for nearing a year because that's the only way it works for me (really low cervix too). I find it much more comfortable and it leaks less for me too.

I can think of a couple of gals here who are perfectly happy with their inside out Diva. If you're comfortable and it fits, then you can continue.

The leakage you're experiencing is probably the dreaded "Residual Slobber," which is flow that winds up on the far side of the cup during a change. Because it is so dilute, it is probably vaginal secretions washing it out. After wearing tampons for so many years, my vag got used to making a lot of lubrication to keep tampons from drying it out. And it takes a few cycles for your membranes to figure out they don't need to do that any more. Just wear a liner until it subsides.

If you decide you want another cup, don't rush out and buy one. Get to know your Diva first -- what you do and don't like about it. Then use the size charts to pick one that you think will fit and suit you better. http://community.livejournal.com/menstrual_cups/1285963.html

Agree with everything here

I've been wearing my Diva inside out for about a year now. I was worried I would need to buy a new, shorter one, but turning it inside out did the trick, so I didn't bother spending more money. I love my Diva, even if it didn't work perfectly how it was supposed to. I made it work :)

I had the exact same thing with the "Residual Slobber" here. I wore a liner for the first few months, but now I don't have to worry about anything.

When it comes to cups, everything takes a little time before it's all perfect. So wait a little while and see if you can make the Diva work for you. Best of luck! We all promise it's worth the primary struggle.
