Retail Therapy

A week after the miscarriage Dom and I wandered about town and bought stuff for the house. Mostly small things. A bath rug, a towel ring for a hand towel. Things like that. Just little spruces that we've been needing to do for a while but never could justify.
Eh, we still can't justify the little items that add up, but we did it anyway.
The bathroom looks better anyway.
Last night we bought a new dining room table. It comes with 6 chairs. It's pretty and extends out to fit 10 people. 12 if two people sit at the head and foot. 14 if people are really friendly. So, I'd say it's a good size table.
That was not a cheap little item.
But...we did it anyway.
Oh yeah, we got the matching sideboard.
Dom is going to build 2 benches so we will have seating when it is fully extended. We could have gotten all 10 chairs, but you know, two benches against the wall is a lot less awkward than 4 chairs against the wall.
That's what we have going on now, 4 chairs against the wall and 4 chairs around our dinky dining room table.
It looks like chairs around the room for a dance or something.
Not a look I like.
The dining room table we have now belonged to Dom's grandparents. It works, but is horribly awkward. Where the legs sit, you can not sit more than 4 people around the table without it being incredibly tight. And the chairs are falling apart and you have to make sure not to lean on the table too hard or it may collapse.
So, I mean it wasn't a necessity or anything, but we've wanted one for a while.
And now seemed like the time.
We both needed a change.
And while it's not a huge change, a new table in our dining room is a nice change.
And instead of the nightmares I've had every night for two weeks, last night I had a dream about the table.
How mundane.
I'll take it.
