Oh god. I heard about the earthquake and tsunamis in Japan on the radio this morning. I've been trying to look up information, but I only have the most basic stuff since I'm on a visitor network. I can't get onto CNN International Live like I'd like to. I really want to see how bad it is in Tokyo and the surrounding area. I read that it was an 8.9 on the Richter Scale and that it was the 5th biggest earthquake since 1900. A lot of countries are going to get hit by the tsunamis it caused. Poor Japan isn't even done yet. There are still the aftershocks as well.
Japan really didn't need a disaster like this with the way it's economy is right now and with the population growth looking like it is. I'm glad the US has already taken some measures to send help and that other countries are stepping up. I'm also glad Obama has already gotten FEMA on alert for the US states that might get affected by the tsunamis. It's a lot better than with the Katrina situation already.
I haven't seen figures on the dead yet, it's much too early. They're still getting hit, much less to the point of tallying up an accurate count. I'm worried for Japan as a whole, and I'm also worried for the JE guys and whether any of them got hurt. Who knows which people were in Tokyo and which were away from the city for work.
I hope that everyone who's alive right now in Japan stays that way in the next few days and God rest those who've died. I don't believe in God, but with such a natural disaster, I feel like I owe it to pray to someone.
INFORMATION: Thanks so much to the people at kat-tunworldwide. They're compiling information on who in JE is reported and confirmed to be fine or injured. Arashi is safe. Also, I found this:
http://aiba-chan-lover.livejournal.com/5858.html specifically about Arashi. The more people post, the more people will be able to find this information. It took me over an hour, worrying all the time.
