Sirius was raised by prejudiced parents who treated him like crap. This pretty much insured that he too might eventually treat someone else like crap in retaliation. This DOES NOT make it okay, however, it's almost understandable why Sirius treated Snape badly in school (not to mention Snape treated the Marauders badly as well).
Yes, what Sirius attempted during school was incredibly dangerous. Leading a gullible man who is angry at you to a werewolf (especially if the werewolf is your best friend) is not a wise decision. However, everyone in the books has made dumb decisions. Look at Snape. He's responsible for the Potters death, for Dumbledore's death. So yes, Sirius isn't innocent, but hardly anyone in the books is. And I really don't believe Dumbledore mistrusted Sirius. If he trusted SNAPE for God's sake, he trusted Sirius.
You're right, Sirius did treat Kreacher badly, but this is not a point you really need to argue on since everyone who has read the books can see that quite clearly.
Sirius spent thirteen years in Azkaban. Can we try to remember that, please? He was put in Azkaban when he was entering adulthood, so he didn't really have time to grow into an adult. Actually, more devestating, he was forced to grow into adulthoos very quickly and where Harry did so admirably, Sirius did not.
All I'm saying is that you might want to cut a dead man some slack. It's not like it really matters anyway. It is, after all, only a book series.
Good essay, though. I just don't agree with most of your points.

Can't do that. 6 reasons:
1- IT is a fictional character. It's real dead people that I would never touch (bash...whatever..). Fictional characters on the other hand are fare game.
2- I had the piece edited and it came back with very few red corrections concerning grammar and spelling.
3- I don't like the name 'Sirius'.
4- Before I started writing, I reached the conclusion that he was not innocent. I WANTED TO SHARE MY DISCOVERY.
5- The first time I read about him was in OotP (first HP book I ever read), and thought he was an 'alcoholic disaster waiting to happen' he'd either kill himself or someone else.
6- I considered it a good idea to have him conveniently killed. It removed a potential problem, plus making the readers sympathetic to his 'plight'.
