Out of curiosity, why? Taking a look around the HP Lexicon would seriously help your canon debating skills. It is a HUGE reference site where you could check canon facts before post fics and essays. It places everything we know about every character, place, and event into one easy and accessible format.

You may want to try it out. It would help with distinguishing between what you want to be true and what is canon fact. Always helpful when posting theories based on a body of works like the HP series.

Also, if JKR were to include every piece of background information she has on every character (she actually has character sketches for every student in Harry's year, regardless of whether or not we'll ever meet them), the books would be about 100000000x longer than they already are. That's why she uses interviews and her website to clarify things that cannot fit into the actual books. Plus, there's the fact that the books rarely deviate from being in Harry's POV, which would make it hard (not to mention VERY tedious for the reader) to include every bit of information she has. Interviews and the website are a perfect format to answer the burning questions we die-hard fans have without adding page after page after page of info-dump into the books, which would be incredibly bad writing.
