While the Olympics Starting today, I though I would post my favorite story about going beyond what is necessary to not just win the Gold, but prove to those around you that you truly deserve that honor.
Last June I attended the state volleyball tournament for the Special Olympics. The teams where split into two groups based on their skill level. While the Minnesota Valley was tested into the lower tier, their hard work brought them to the higher level. Because there was no way for them to get retested, they were group with teams that far less skilled then themselves. Instead of completely dominating those team, they did little things to help out the other team. They limited their best servers to 5 points, didn't spike the ball if it might hit someone on the other team, and let the other team reserve if the ball didn't make it over the net. The truly remarkable part of these acts, was that the team did it voluntarily, without prompting form their coaches.
