So the DA2 demo dropped yesterday. I knew they were going to return to a more action packed opening after having a discussion with my big bro last week in which he had many complaints about the slow and dialogue heavy opening of DA1. I did not, however, expect to have to mash the A button a million times during a battle. It really takes the fun out of playing the game and is not something my thumb is particularly fond of.
Needless to say the majority of the demo was underwhelming. The single highlight was Aveline. Her character immediately pulled me into the game. I really wish she was the protagonist, but then Bioware would have to make a game that didn't heavily rely on the idea of faux choice and we all know they are incapable of doing so.
The demo did this whole time skip thing which I found quite jarring. It would have been better to end it after the scene with Aveline and her husband. But, no, that's not enough to tempt the male audience. Bioware had to throw in a quick quest with Isabella which ended with her making a sexual advance to Hawke.
In the end the demo has reassured me not to expect much from this sequel.
