I'm bored this evening and saw a somequestion on a paranormal imageboard.
So if you find a Death Note, or gained the ability to kill any person by directing subtle world events to look natural would you want it?
I'd have to answer no. I find it terrible to be burdened with the power to kill and because we as humans have flaws and tend to abuse power, I'd find myself in a situation where I could become cold, meticulous and control and shapes the events of the world with death. The thought of becoming that being, frightens me. It sounds as if you could eventually lose your humanity and morality.
Murder is murder. You'd have to be cold to not feel guilty for murdering people you don't know. Even if these deaths were directly only at criminals and "evil" people, these are still human beings. You can try dehumanizing people you hate or that you feel they deserve to die but they're still human beings. Every person has a backstory as to why they committed crimes and evil acts. I'd rather search for the truth and the story and try to help people instead of killing them off.
I think as to why someone would want this ability and the responses remind of the Sigmund Freud's
[id model]. The part of the mind that it childish, impatient, and demanding. "To kill people I don't like." I think is a common response of people. Aren't we taught though that we should be tolerant when we are young, though? That there will be people who offend and disagree with us? We should keep our heads up.
So my opinion is that desiring this ability to kill is immoral and using them will corrupt the heart and mind to become something less than human. Something barbaric and primitive.
