And by that, I mean jobs that I would actually be qualified for and that are not fast food. Here is where I went today:
Target - Not hiring, but they have a new application system, so I got to re-answer all the dumb personality questions.d Things change from week to week here so I suppose there is the chance I could get a call in the next few weeks.
Ben and Jerry's - Hiring sign no longer up. Would be a decent place to work, but I e-mailed and went in to talk to the manager several times (and she never seemed to be there) without response. Seems kind of rude, especially since it was one of the few places (up to this point) where I had actually made an aggressive effort.
Gamestop (mall) - The manager there either seems to totally recognize me or not recognize me at all when I go in there. I think this time it was the latter, but he didn't seem to indicate that they were looking for anyone anytime soon.
Waldenbooks - Not hiring at the moment, but may be at the beginning of September for Seasonal stuff. I really, really don't want to work Seasonal. I need something Full Time, but I'll do it if that's all I can get. Put in an application regardless.
Borders - Waldenbooks and Borders are owned by the same people, so it was pretty much the same story here. Will put in an application online.
Books-A-Million - I asked here a few weeks ago and was told to come back in mid-August and ask again. So I did. Lady just kind of shook her head when I asked, was very unhelpful and rude. In fact, the girl I talked to last time was kind of rude, too. Maybe I don't want to work here. :P
Barnes and Noble - Not hiring right now. They never seem to be, but the lady said that they might have some daytime positions open in October or something when they have the student employee schedules sorted out. Picked up an app, but I need something a lot sooner than October. :P
Best Buy - Couldn't totally understand what the dude I talked to way saying. Indicated that they were conducting a lot of interviews lately, so I will probably submit an application online. I've heard enough horror stories about working at BB, but whatever. The atmosphere is tolerable.
Gamestop (butler plaza) - Said they've been getting 20 or so applications a day, which bodes REALLY WELL FOR MY CHANCES. Either way, they are not hiring right now, but said they might be for the Fall, and to submit a new application if I see a hiring sign so I'll be on the top.
Harmon's - Yeah, Hali told me a few weeks ago and I should've applied then. They JUST hired a couple of people, so I missed the boat on that one. Picked up an app, but don't have much hope here.
Starbucks (archer rd.) - Came by here mostly to pick up a new application, so I can photocopy it and put on in at most of the local locations. They were not hiring at this one currently, though.
I can pretty much sum my feelings up thusly: BLERGH.
