The first-ever Fright Night Awards celebrates the most popular preternatural treats from the previous year according to the people who really count: the fans. This new virtual awards show is held exclusively online and fans are asked to vote for their favorite frights, haunts, monsters and more across 21 categories at www.frightnightawards.com. Presented by Cancer Bites, a national blood cancer awareness and education campaign launching on Halloween, the winners of the first annual Fright Night Awards will be announced on 30 October.

“Bringing a touch of entertainment and fun together during a time that celebrates Halloween is really rewarding,” says Michael Burg, blood cancer survivor and creator/co-producer of the FOX Teen Choice Awards. “Our ultimate goal is to rally the public to increase overall awareness of blood cancers.”

Harnessing the Halloween season and the public’s obsession around the mystique of vampires and the supernatural, Cancer Bites has assembled a powerful team of partners, experts and spokespeople, including the Fright Night Awards, to educate the public about the prevalence of blood cancers, the fourth most common type of cancer overall. In fact, every four (4) minutes someone is diagnosed with blood cancer.

And if you’re wondering how blood cancer awareness turned into the Fright Night Awards, blame Edward Cullen, or rather actor Robert Pattinson, who started the whole ball rolling by proclaiming “Cancer Bites!” while accepting the award for “Choice Celebrity Vampire” during the 2011 Teen Choice Awards.

Here are the nominees for the first-ever Fright Night Awards in their 21 respective categories.
