It’s no secret that HBO Global licensing is launching Forsaken, a unique collection of beauty products and fragrances inspired by the hit original series True Blood in August. This is the first time HBO has ventured into fragrances and truebies everywhere are looking forward to the line becoming available on HSN beginning 9 August.

“HSN is proud to be the first to offer HBO’s Forsaken collection,” said Betsey Olum, GM Beauty and merchandising Strategy. ” It’s one of a kind, sensual collection of products that taps into the essence of the show and will excite both the HSN customer and the True Blood fan.”

True Bloodfans, or truebies, may also be a bit confused when they realize that the first three Forsaken products being released include Eau de Parfum, a body cream and…a “shimmering body veil powder”. Surprised? We were since any True Blood fan will tell you

“Real vampires don’t sparkle!”

Shouldn’t that apply to shimmering too?

Apparently not. The Forsaken fragrance, developed by Givaudan, a prominent fragrance house, is supposed to be evocative of the dar and seductive world of True Blood. Yet the scent supposedly ultra feminine scent blends fruity aromas like pear with rich florals like night blooming jasmine as well as some amber and patchouli leaving us to wonder…which vampires did Givaudan have in mind when they came up with this mix? Not that it sounds bad…it just doesn’t sound very vampy.

The Forsaken nail lacquer sounds a bit more promising, going by the names chosen/ The signature set of nail polish and coordinating lipstick will be called “Let it Bleed” (nails) and “Bite Me” (lips) which will be the first lipstick developed by celebrity manicurist Deborah Lippmann. She will follow those up with tow additional trios. “Sookie Sookie will feature full-sized nail lacquers called “Human Nature”, “Fairydust” and “Bad Things”. The trio of mini nail lacquers will include “Strange Love”, “New Flesh” and “Bad Blood”.

And we haven’t even mentioned the home products from luxury home fragrance company D. L. & Co. who will be producing luxury candles and diffusers with the Forsaken scent developed by Givaudan blended in.

Are we the only ones wondering if anyone involved in producing these products has ever watched True Blood?
