If you’ve ever wondered why once upon a time something bad happens to a girl that can only be set right if the right guy finds her and falls in love, you’ll want to avoid Nickelodeon on Monday, May 28, 2012. They are turning that old premise on its head with the launch of Rags, a brand new original television movie. Not only have they infused the tale with music and moved it to New York City, in this retelling of the classic tale it’s Charlie Prince (Max Schneider) who needs a break.
Rags follows Charlie, an orphan living with his acerbic stepfather and his two spoiled step brothers Lloyd and Andrew, who dreams of becoming a singer. Though vocally talented, Fate just seems against him until he meets Kadee Worth (KeKe Palmer) the daughter of a music business mogul. Despite the obstacles through in their way, Charlie and Kadee eventually find their voices and their stage. Will they also find their happily ever after? You’ll have to watch and see.
“Rags is a fresh take on a classic story and delivers a relevant message about finding your real voice,” said Marjorie Cohn, Nickelodeon President, Development and Original Programming. .
