Good news for all you eager video fans who are also gamers. Amazon Instant Video

is now available through your PlayStation 3 (PS3) system. Earlier this month, Sony Computer Entertainment announced the launch of the Amazon Instant Video App for PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, making the PS3 the first and only video game console system to offer Amazon Instant Video. The app has been prominently featured on all PlayStation 3 game systems in the U.S. since the launch.

“We’re always looking for new ways to expand the digital entertainment offerings across PlayStation Network, and we’re thrilled to be the first game console to deliver Amazon Instant Video to our community,” Jack Buster, senior director of PlayStation Digital Platforms, SCEA said at the time the launch was announced. “Working with Amazon is a prime example of our committment to providing our community with a wealth of options so the can experience entertainment the way they want.”

The Amazon Instant Video app allows Amazon Prime

members to watch Prime Instant Videos streamed directly to their PS3 system through the PlayStation Network. Amazon Prime members can instantly stream more than 17,000 TV shows and movies, all for $79 annually.

More than 120,000 TV shows and movies are also available to buy or rent through the Amazon Instant Video app. Best of all, to celebrate the launch of the Amazon Instant Video app on the PS3 system, Amazon is offering the first episode of more than 100 TV shows for free instant streaming to both Prime and non-Prime customers.

The Amazon Instant Video app is custom designed to harness the powerful entertainment capabilities of the PlayStation 3 system and provide customers with the best Amazon Instant Video experience to date, including:

Instant streaming of nearly 25,000 high-definition movies and TV shows that start and resume in just seconds.
New smart lists (Recently Watched, Next Episode, Personal Recommendations) that appear on the home screen of the PS3 system app and update automatically.
Whispersync lets customers seamlessly switch from one device to another.
Your Video Library gives customers access to purchase Amazon Instant video on the PlayStation 3 system or any of hundreds of other devices enabled for Amazon instant video.
