“Life’s Good Fairytales” reveal how tech brings families together

In a dazzling 4,000 foot studio in New York’s Flatiron neighborhood, guests joined actress Ali Landry (whose most recent projects Bella and Crescendo I depict how one day can change a life) to celebrate the ne LG Viper 4gLTE smartphone and tools like Life’s Good Fairytales that help families bond more using technology. Sponsored by Sprint and LG Mobile, the 19 April event helped guests discover ways parents can reform bad tech habits and gain more quality family time.In addition to introducing apps like Life’s Good Fairytales, LG also announced the results of a study that explored parents’ use of smartphones (how’s that for strange alternate realities?).

“Like many of today’s power parents, Ali Landry has a career that constantly keeps her on the go, in addition to her role as a full-time parent,” explained Tim O’Brien, vice president of marketing for LG Mobile. “At LG, we know it’s important for people to have tools that allow them to multi-task. With LG Viper 4G LTE and apps like Life’s Good Fairytales busy parents can stay connected to their families more easily than ever before - no matter where their work might take them.”

So what is the Life’s good Fairytales app and how can it help families bond?

Life’s Good Fairytales offers families a customizable storyboard where parents and kids can collaborate by creating and sharing unique fairytales via their LG smartphone. Storytellers, both children and adults, can customize their fairytales by uploading photos, names and voices directly to their LG Viper 4G LTE smartphones. The debut event was one of few sneak peeks families got of the Life’s Good Fairytales app which becomes available for free to Viper owners beginning 27 April via Google Play.

The event, like the new sleek and ultra-thin LG Viper 4G LTE smartphone, wasn’t all fun and games, however. LG also revealed some fascinating facts about how parents  use smartphones. Results from a survey of 2,222 smartphone-owning American parents with children between the ages of 3 and 12 indicate:
  • Smartphones are an integral part of parents’ lives. More than half of those surveyed reported relying on their smartphones to keep them on track. More than two-thirds of employed parents agree that having a smartphone enables them to have a better work/life balance.
  • Smartphones allow parents to stay in touch, but it might be one of the “too much of a good thing” situations. Sixty-two (62) percent of parents who own a smartphone say they check their smartphone during family time.
  • Smartphones keep families connected. They also keep families distracted. Almost two-thirds (63 percent) of parents participating in the survey indicate they’ve given their smartphones to their kids to entertain them.
  • Smartphones age changing age-old traditions like story time that bring parents and kids together. More than a quarter (27 percent) of parents surveyed reported reading a book tor their children from a smartphone.

The LG Viper 4G LTE smartphone boast o 4-inch touchscreen and runs on Android 2.3. The 5-megapixel rear-facing camera and VGA front facing camera allow for fun and easy face-to-face video chat with family and friends. Parents (and non parents) can purchase their own LG Viper beginning Sunday, 22 April.
