Year Roundup

Well (always a good way to start), I finally got around to update this thing.
So, seeing as 2006 was quite a good year for me, and a very special one, may I say, I decided to write all the things I will most probably look back on when time passes. Here we go!

The most importantly important thing about this year was that it was my senior year in high school. Leaving it was sad not only because of all the people I won't be seeing as often, but since our school teached us from the very beggining to be proud of it, not going there anymore is sad on itself. But it's kind of a good sad -- I've always liked that nostalgic feeling anyway. And it's all the more strong since I'm the youngest of my family, meaning we'll definitely won't have any more ties with the school for a big while.

On that same vein, Graduation was just awesome. It had fun parts, it had nostalgic parts. We joked, we laughed, and we were serious when we had to. I've never been one to cry, but I thought I would cry a little here, especially when they showed us a video of recollections of everyone since the very first day of school to the very last, with everything that comes in the middle. I didn't cry though. In the speeches territory, the Principal's one was kinda lame, but the one given by the Students Council President was just ace. He just stood there, with no paper or anything, and just said the right words. When he finished we gave him a standing ovation. Yes, it was that good. Oh, and I won all the awards :P (really, I did).

While we are on Graduations, I went to two Proms this year. My Prom was awesome, I had a really really great time and there's nothing of it I would change (Ok, maybe the food could've been better). Her's, however, was god-awful. Just god-awful. She was mad at me for unkown reasons, when I asked her what was wrong she would get all defensive, and she ended up just saying she wouldn't dance with me that night. If I was someone else, I would probably had got extremely drunk and made her carry me to my home (and nobody could've blame, mind you), but lucky for her (and for everyone else there, since I tend to be a messy drunk) I know better. And lucky for me, a friend was there and he didn't like her date all that much so we just talk the hours away. And the food was kinda good.

I guess I should also adress this girl issue. After my Prom, I had high hopes for our to-begin relationship. But after her Prom, I just tried to stay away from her. Eventually she said hi to me on MSN, as if nothing had happened. We chat a little bit but I made it clear it was just not the same. Apparently she was sorry since she even sent me a quite lengthy New Year text message, but she never actually said she was sorry. Heck, to this day she hasn't even admitted she was mad at me (a kid from my school had commited suicide the day before, so she said she was affected by that. But frankly, using that as an excuse made me all the more aware of the kind of person she is).

Well, onto more fun matters, I really bonded with my friends this year. Going with some of them to Ireland was quite the experience (and Ireland was quite the experience on itself), and going with all of them to different parts of my coutry just made me appreciate them more. I feel confident in that we won't miss contact (I'll be on a different Uni as them next year), but I also fell confident that won't stop me from making new friends from Uni. Then we could all get together and have one hell of a party.

And speaking about Uni, I aced on the Big Bad Exam. I prepared this exam all year long (I didn't study as much as most of the others did, though), and being accepted at the Uni my Grandfather, my mum, my brother, my sister and my brother-in-law went to just makes me really happy. I was reaaaally nervous when they were giving the results, so I'm very relaxed now, though I have to wait til the 16th to matriculate, while all my friends already started their holiday trips.

Those are about the major points of 2006. Now onto the less important ones! (you can star each point with a "I'm thankful for")

The World Cup. Ok, it wasn't that great, but hey, still soccer.

Matias Fernandez (if you don't know him a) You're a girl or b) You don't like soccer. And he's Chilean, not argentinian as some are led to believe ¬¬)

The Sun, the Summer and the High temperatures. I had a whole year of winter, and I'm finally roasting like a chicken.

Fernando Gonzalez. He made it to the Top Ten in 2006. Here's hoping for a Grand Slam this year!

Dream Theater. Ok, their concert here was on late 2005, but hey did realease a stron live DVD and CD. And even if they hadn't, they still rock.

Music in general. Quite a few strong CDs released this year. The Mars Volta, Muse, Porcupine Tree, even Pink Floyd!

Irish girls. They know how to party.

Swiss girls. They party even better. And speak french.

Lakes, and water-related activities. My arm is still suffering from them, though.

And last but not least, t'Internet, which allows me to see the new seasons of Lost, Scrubs, House and Gilmore Girls. Oh Internet, you make the world go 'round.

Oh, and spaghetti, it's great. (Te dije que sería sobre tallarines :P)

That's about it. Came a little more wordy than I expected it, but it was an eventful year. So, Farewell 2006, you will be greatly missed. Hello 2007, hope you're ready for some action!
