“I think Buzz is hiding in the drawer,” Slinky Dog called to Woody.

The cowboy put his hand on his hip.  “Well, why would he do that? We’re not playing hide and seek until Andy gets home.”

Slinky shrugged.  “I’m pretty sure I overheard him talking to Wheezy about meeting him in the spare bedroom earlier today.”

“Spare bedroom?”  Woody whistled loudly.  “Come on, Bullseye,” he said to the horse who had come running towards him.  “We’re going to solve this mystery.  You coming, Slink?”

The dog shook his head.  “All that bouncing around does terrible things to my spring.  I’ll wait here and keep a lookout for Andy’s mom.”

“All right then,” Woody said, climbing on the horse’s back.  “Ride like the wind, Bullseye!”

Together, they went across the room and down the hall to the rarely used guest bedroom.  As they entered the room, Woody heard a hideous sound coming from the dresser drawer.

Bullseye raised up on his hind legs as he tried to cover his ears, causing Woody to fall ungracefully off his back.

“Thanks, boy,” Woody said sarcastically, rubbing his backside as he stood up.

“No, no, Buzz! You don’t want me to have to teach you another lesson, do you?”

It was Wheezy!

But, what was he talking about?  And why were they having the conversation in the top sock drawer in the spare bedroom?

Woody quietly walked across the floor, hoping that he wouldn’t step on the squeaky floorboard. Finally, he made his way to the dresser in the corner of the room.

“No, Wheezy!” Buzz sounded panicked!  “I don’t want to have to go through that again.”

Now Woody knew something was wrong.  Nothing bothered the Space Ranger.  But, what could Wheezy possibly be doing to upset Buzz?  Woody was close enough to the drawer where he could hear them breathing.  Buzz was almost gasping for air and Wheezy was...wheezing.

“Do it, Buzz!” Wheezy ordered.

“No!” the Space Ranger shouted.  “I won’t do it again.”

Hearing his best friend’s panic spurred Woody into action.  He quickly climbed up the drawers. When he got to the top, he reached over and pulled the drawer wide open.

And gasped.

“Buzz?!”

“Woody?”

“What’s going on in here?” Woody asked, eying the two toys suspiciously.  He looked at the piece of paper Buzz was trying to unsuccessfully hide behind his back.  “Is that...sheet music?” Realization suddenly dawned on him.  “Wheezy...are you teaching Buzz how to sing?”

“Oh hey, Woody,” the squeak toy greeted.  “Yeah, he thought that Jessie--”

Buzz coughed loudly.  “Was there something you needed, cowboy?”

“Well, when we rode in, Bullseye and I heard a terrible sound.  Then, I overheard you and Wheezy talking and I thought you might need some help,” Woody explained.  He turned to the penguin.  “What was that sound?”

Wheezy and Buzz exchanged a glance.

“Er, um, that would be me,” Buzz stammered.  “Learning how to sing is more complicated than defeating Zurg.”

Woody winced.  If that’s how Buzz sang, Wheezy had his work cut out for him.  He tipped his hat at Wheezy.  “Good luck, partner.”  He jumped down from the drawer and landed expertly on the ground.  “‘Cause you’re gonna need it.”
