Fifth Annual Olive Rant (TM)

Nov 16, 2008 20:38

One of the very first posts I made when I started the journal was about my complete loathing for olive season. Nothing has changed since. Our olives are still small, numerous and ripe when it is cold and damp outside. I spent about 2 hours yesterday and 4 hours today in the cold and damp picking itty bitty olives that I DON'T LIKE so that I don't get growled at by my parents or feel like a complete heel in front of my brother and the friends who have come to help out.

Thank God we can bribe them with my Dad's chili count on them to come help or it would take forever! I am frozen and my back and shoulders ache from reaching up and pulling all day and my fingers are all scratched from leaves and little bitty branches! We have tenacious olives that stick to the tree and play hide and seek amoung the leaves. You think you have a branch done then turn back and all of a sudden there are more!

And there is no sun...even when it is sunny!!!! wails!!!!!!! Our property is on the north face of a hill, so the sun hides behind the hill and never shines on the trees....it just isn't fair!!!!! Another week-en lost to EVIL OLIVES!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

It was actually quite entertaining to go back and read some of my previous rants though! It is an interesting journey through my fandom wanderings...

2004 was the first year and I was shifting out of Gundam Wing fandom into Magnificent 7

2005 was the in the hight of my Without a Trace obsession...(when I met many of you!)

2006 was a short non fandom rant as there was a small crop and the weather was exceptionally nice (except for WIND!) and while not obvious in that particular post, this was the begining of my pirate obsession...

2007 was non-fannish but lots of family news and touristing in the south of France with siblings with a bonus picture post for special friends, thus the friends lock on this one. This was the Naruto era of fanfic.

For posterity, 2008 can go down as a Torchwood year , thus the icon choice!
