So, once again it has been a while. This time it isn't entirely my fault for being strictly lurky as the computer woes of February/March are only now completely resolved.
All in all I am reasonably impressed with Dell. It took a long time, mostly due to the fact that I can't check my e-mail at work, that procedures are procedures and that I am by no stretch of the imagination an IT person BUT once it was clear that it was a hardware problem (which my IT brother suspected the first time I mentionned the errors I was getting), Dell sent me a new harddrive via UPS even though I don't think my computer is under guarantee anymore. All in all, it cost me a tiny bit of data, some annoyance and some time, but it didn't cost me a penny! I also learned how to replace a harddrive on my laptop!
The bits of data I lost were mostly backed up elsewhere, but I did lose a few things. One thing I did lose were all the pictures from the
wat_europe London and Rome trips. I didn't realize I didn't have them backed up....would some kind soul(s) be willing to reupload them to the
wat_trip_squee for me? Or contact me directly with an upload link? Merci beaucoup!
In other news, spent all day yesterday trying to recover from the trauma of the Torchwood season finale. Yikes. I have not cried like that over a TV show in a long time (thus sad pirate icon). I have loved this show since it started though only ventured into the Jack/Ianto fandom recently. I am strangely leary of fandoms for things I loved pre-internet and I am a longtime Doctor Who fan. But the pairing is so canon that I couldn't resist!
And in better news,
new pirate book in about a month! SQUEEE!!!
