As soon as you give up your self-image--that one tiny part of you that you thought would guarantee you love--and all the shame and grief surrounding the belief that the rest of you would not be loved: you'll be free.

It is sincerely grieving and angering to be forced into a tiny box of who you are--and for everything to hinge on one person's acceptance of that box. The true path is to open that little box, incorporate it with the rest of your bad self, love that big, deep, expansive self with all its foibles and character, and not care so much whether other people accept you--you have yourself. And she's beautiful. How can you not see it after you finally stop marginalizing her into one tiny, little, neat and suffocating box?
