Character: Momiji Sohma
Timeline: Chapter 111. This is the chapter where Momiji first starts wearing the male uniform, showing growth in both physical and mental forms. He drops out of his world the night he told Kyo (his love rival) that he needs to get with the program, or Momiji will end up stealing Tohru away.

Personality: Momiji is someone who is completely comfortable with who he is. He comes off as bubbly, carefree, chipper, hyper, and all around childish. He is seen often wearing cute ruffly cloths (he even used to wear the female uniform), studs in his ears, nails freshly painted, and a stuffed rabbit used as a backpack. He takes great delight in group games, family meals, and horseplay with his peers. That being said, you should be able to draw the conclusion that he is a social butterfly. He acts this way, most likely due to the fact of his solitary upbringing, and his estrangement to his immediate family.

He treasures the time he spends with others, and cherishes every memory he holds. He takes the good with the bad, and manages to find a silver lining to it all. Momiji isn't one to get depressed often, unlike other family members, but when he does, he rarely shows it. He puts up a great forced smile, so well done eventually it melts into a real one. When he is down, he isn't down for long, and cheering him up is only one hug away. Emotionally he is very strong.

His appearance may be that of someone younger, mentally he is wisest amongst his peers. Momiji is rather insightful and a very empathetic person. He can see past most other's fronts, faults, and lies, while still wearing a kind warm smile. He is accepting and gives off the same parental kindness that Tohru does. An example would be how recently Kyou was having all his usual doubts about his feelings for Tohru, and despite being in love with her too, Momiji tells Kyou not to give up, and to chase after her.

Selfless would also describe him well. Giving up his beloved violin lessons so his sister could take them instead. Never interacting with Momo, so his father could feel at ease. And letting his mother go, even though he wanted her to keep trying to accept him, just so she could get better. Then boosting his main competition ahead, all because he knew that's who she would want. Caring to a fault.

Momiji has also been one of the only Juunishi to stand up against Akito's wishes. He is strong willed and protective when it comes to his friends, so much so that he takes a beating from the head of the family just to try to spare Tohru his wrath. He stands up for what he thinks is right and fair, consequences be damned. Standing up to the head of the family is something that even the elder Juunishi never do. When they see little Momiji standing strong it pulls at their heart-strings and even makes them feel guilty that they hadn't done anything instead of the little tyke.

Background: Momiji is half German half Japanese, taking after the looks on his mother's side of the family. Like all the other members of the Juunishi, Momiji was born two months early, causing quite the scare in his parents hearts. His mother was relieved when she saw that her baby was going to be alright, however upon holding her child for the first time she was repulsed when it turned into a rabbit. She took the baby home and tried to care for it, however she was easily frustrated, constantly commenting on how she was so ashamed that such a "abomination" came out of her. When Momiji was a toddler she would often snap and scream at him, sometimes going as far as to strike her child. His father did the only thing he thought he could do, and had Momiji isolated within the main house, and ultimately had his mother's memories erased.

Over time his mother gained back her sanity, and to this day believes him to be someone else's kid. Momiji wished with all his heart that his mother would keep trying to accept him, that she hadn't gotten her memories erased. He had seen the damage it was doing to her though and in the end, he agreed with his father to have Hatori go through with the hypnosis. Unlike Yuki, Momiji never once blamed Hatori for what he had to do. It wasn't in his nature, and even at that young age, he could see how it was effecting Hatori to be doing such acts.

When the rumors started flying around the Sohma household that someone from the 'outside' had learnt the family secret, and not only was allowed to keep the knowlege, but was accepting of the curse, Momiji knew he needed to meet her. As all he had was a name to go off of, he was shocked to run into that very girl in his father's company's building. He was overjoyed to the point of kissing the girl on the cheek, however startling her and causing her to run off before he was able to introduce himself. He later convinces Hatori to take him to a festival held by the girl's (and Yuki and Kyou's) school, where he finally gets a proper introduction. Upon that meeting he promplty transforms, letting out that he is cursed by the Rabbit of the Chinese zodiac, much like the girl's friends. She was as kind hearted as all the rumors made her out to be, and it was like a dream come true for Momiji.

From there on he continued to show up at her work place (his father's building) visiting her, and helping with her work load. Not long after that he join's her school along with his cousin Hatsuharu, where he promptly causes a stir, wearing the girls' uniform (with shorts, of course). This is where Momiji starts to get a closer bond with Tohru, Yuki, and Kyou.

About a month after words, Tohru learns of Momiji's family situation and comforts him. He tried to keep the tears out of his eyes, smiling to almost the end, but seeing her tears flowing caused a chain reaction, allowing the two of them to grow closer in this touching moment.

Later that summer Momiji plans a big trip down to the Sohma family summer home, inviting all of his cousins. They enjoy their stay up there until the head of the family finds out, and visits as well. Akito isolates Tohru from the Sohma children, whom follow begrudgingly, however unquestioning. Momiji is the first one to speak of his shame, leaving Tohru by herself day by day. Wishing he could go against Akito's wishes, but knowing it would get worse if he did. On the final night of Akito's stay, the head of the family decides it was time to visit Tohru, to tell her that she doesn't belong. It is Momiji who finds Akito wandering up to their property, and he tries to shield Tohru from his visit. This ends with Akito getting angry in his defiance, causing him to physically lash out at Momiji. Tohru steps in to defend him, and Momiji tears off, finding his older cousins, and getting their help. Momiji is filled with shame and guilt when he lays eyes on the scratch marks on Tohru's face, is stuck speechless, and bursts into a silent fit of tears. The older cousins marvel at Momiji's courage, and berate themselves on the fact that the child was stronger than they were.

The next couple of months pass quietly as the school year continues on, and they all fall into their normal routines, that is, until Tohru makes a trip to the Sohma main house. After an afternoon of practicing the violin, Momiji is surprised to find Tohru at his back door. His little sister had helped sneak her in to the Sohma estate, and Tohru goes on to tell him that, just as he has been watching Momo, she has been watching back. He learns that the reason she is taking the violin was to have something in common with Momiji, so that one day they could play together. Momo's strongest desire was to have Momiji be her older brother, unknowing the truth behind their birth. This news overwhelms him to tears of joy, and is filled with pure, genuine happiness. Tohru and Momiji share another tender moment like this, but he doesn't let it last long, asking why it was she was there in the first place. After hearing her out Momiji draws her a map to where she needed to get to, and prayed she wouldn't get caught, knowing that he couldn't stop her, even if he wanted to. A couple months later, Momiji helps her further with her scheme, sneaking in to see Kureno, and passing a message on for her, defying the head of the family's wishes once more.

More quiet days pass, and soon Momiji enters his second year of high school. He begins to wear the male uniform after a sudden growth spurt, and it is remarked often that he and Tohru looked like a couple, no matter how you looked at it. This pleased Momiji to no end, however he knew that that wasn't how she felt. He decided it had been awhile since they had gone out together so the two of them head out for ice-cream after school. Running into Yuki and Hatsuharu on the way, they invite them along, to make a party of it. With their hearts set on barbecue and and curry, Momiji flounced through the house to drag Kyou out to be social with them. Momiji could tell just by looking at Kyou what is wrong with his friend's mood. It's here that Momiji confesses to Kyou that he has feelings for Tohru, and that if he didn't get himself together soon, Momiji was going to propose to her. He only said that to get the idea in Kyou's head that she could be swept off her feet if he wasn't careful, knowing full well how Tohru felt about Kyou. It hurt, but even more he wanted to see his friends happy.

It was that night, when Momiji was out in the park practicing his violin, that he disappeared from the world he had known.

Abilities/Additional Notes: Momiji is one of the thirteen members of his family cursed by the zodiac. It is a closely guarded secret, going as far as to erase the memories of those outsiders who learn of it. Only a handful of the family is even aware of it's existence. The curse is triggered when one's physical well being is in a weak condition. (ie: horrible fever, malnourished, worn completely out, ect.) It also, oddly enough, is triggered when they embrace a member of the opposite sex. This makes any sort of intimacy difficult, for any kind of relationship.

Sample Journal Post:[The PCD clicks on, and for the first few moments it seems to be only showing a black screen, while the sound of violin music floats through the speakers. The screen focuses more and little white specks can been seen. After a minute a slight silhouette twirls on screen in rhythm to the music, only acknowledging the device as his hip crashes into it, knocking it to the ground with a clatter.]

Eh?? What was-

[The blonde haired boy looks down at it, then casts glances about him, slowly lowering his violin and bow to his sides]

What...? This doesn't look like...

[He looks back to the device, confusion evident on his face, and leans down to pick it up]

Where am I? [He more mutters to himself than the device in his hand, as he castes another hurried look around him]

Sample RP: Down the sauce isle, and back again before his group of friends had even made it to halfway point, Momiji jumped up and down with a skip in his step. It was the start of a new school year, and he got to spend the beginning of it with the best friends of his life. Doing the same things they always did, and he treasured every second of it. He was one of the few kids who looked forward to the start of school, and even marked it down on the calender (and not in a dooms day count down fashion either!) No, Momiji loved the thought of seeing his friends everyday, passing in the halls, eating lunch together, walking home together, skipping class together, heck, Momiji loved it all.

"Tooooohhhruuu! Just look at how many kinds of barbecue sauce they have!" He said as he spread his arms wide with anticipation. They had all come here to pick out what to eat with dinner, whether it was going to be barbecue, curry, or some strange combination of both. Really, Momiji wasn't entranced by the thought of toppings, but rather how the evening would play out. It had been a while since he and his friends could all get together like this, and he was going to make sure it was a real treat. Start it off with a bang!

They cruised up and down the isles, acting the part of gourmet connoisseurs, until they had most of the shopping done. Tohru spun to face the group and spoke in a gasp, "Oh! Do you think Kyou-kun will be home? We better get some more so he can eat too!" She clapped her hands together excitedly, looking from one person to another.

Momiji's eyes dropped to the floor for just a second, until Yuki had spoke up next, "Well, I'll go get the leeks." He said while rolling his eyes and smirking. Momiji joined in the chorus of laughter that engulfed his friends, as a few more jokes were made at the cat's expense. He listened as the others started listing off some items they'd grab for their absent friend, wondering to himself if tonight was the right night to talk to him. He had been putting it off, uncertainties had crept in once again...

Warmth spread through his hand before he noticed that he had been spacing out. Momiji's eyes met with Tohru's as she tugged him along towards the seafood section. His cheeks tinted a slight shade of red as the girl smiled. "Come on Momiji, you can help me." What ever it was that he had been thinking was banished back into the depths of his mind as he squeezed her hand and beamed at her.

"You can count on me!" He told her as they skipped to the near by salmon selection. And she could. For anything. Tonight was the night to talk to Kyou. Momiji couldn't just stand by and watch his cousin make all the wrong choices. He glanced at the girl who smiled so gently at the fish in front of her. A smile meant for someone special. He couldn't just stand by and let her happiness slip away.

No, tonight was the night.
