Sewing Machine Nightmare
I just don't fucking get it. I've been trying to get my sewing machine to work literally all night. HOURS of aggravation. The black and white manual that it came with is in English and Spanish in the same paragraph, with badly drawn images making it really confusing to read through it as you keep seeing two languages and directions.
I figured out how to load the thread at the top. It's all where it needs to be and through the needle and everything. (Though I still can't get the automatic threader thing to line up and work, I just gave up and threaded the needle on my own.)
But if I try to sew, the needle moves up and down but doesn't stitch. So like over an hour thinking I've done something wrong in the threading the machine bit, I find this thing in a library book about the bobbin stuff too.
So now I'm trying to go online and I'm trying to go back through my cryptic manual and it's no real help. It seems to assume you already know what things are and the basic way things work. Which I fucking don't. Now I'm reading what I think means I need to have thread both at the top AND wound around a bobbin to have two threads?? But how much of a pain in the ass is that if I need to constantly make bobbins with the thread I'm using? Is that right??
Some website things seem to say though that no, you can just wind the top thread down through the lower bobbin bit and out. But the manual says something about an upper AND lower thread so now I'm even MORE confused.
I'm sure this is really stupid and I'm just a fucking moron for not knowing this stuff, but I've literally never touched a sewing machine before. So the very basics of how it works are completely alien to me and it's really fucking annoying that the steps in the manual just end with the thread going through the needle and then out the back of the foot. Because how the fuck am I supposed to know there's apparently a whole additional process that I'm not even entirely clear on??
Do I need to make a bobbin AND have the thread on top to make a stitch? And what is wrong if I'm trying to get the winder thing to wind up a bobbin but it just moves the needle up and down instead and doesn't rotate and wind the bobbin wheel thingy like it's supposed to do??
I'm just so lost right now and after literally like FIVE HOURS of trying to figure all this out despite the manual (not because of it's help) I feel like a cook given the ingredients but not told that I need to put it in the oven and wondering why I still have raw batter and not a cake.
HELP?? Anyone understand what I'm asking?? Or can figure out where I'm going wrong? Can anyone just give me the actual 101 basics of this? Seriously, it's really hard to do something on your own if you don't know the first thing about it and all the resources you're looking at are telling you either conflicting info or apparently only partial steps!
