Full Moon Swaps - June 2007 (In Progress)

May 24, 2007 23:23

Friends-only until swap is received by partner to avoid any spoilers!

So it totally dawned on me that the swap ship date is May 31st which is NEXT Thursday. Oh shit. I've got one week to finish it all. I totally lose track there with my birthday and now I'm panicking a little.

Here's what I have so far. (Oh, the theme is "Once in a blue moon" and it's supposed to be rare, or handmade or unique type items.)

The photo album I mentioned before is the one I got before I even knew who my partner is. It's just so cool with the leaves and such that I wanted to get it no matter what so I did. The lantern is a funky-ass project that came out way weirder than I thought it would. I bought the candle lantern for cheap, got some flat-back glass beads and a hot glue gun and went to town. I thought it would look more beachy but, oh well. The bowl I picked in Japan in Epcot because the only flower she likes are cherry blossoms. I figure for most people, going to Walt Disney World is a once in a blue moon thing plus the company that makes it? "Blue Moon." Had to buy it. Then I made a pirate/treasure chest. She loves wooden stuff and nautical things and orangey colors and chocolate browns.

Detail photos:

I added a quasi strand of "pearls" that hang outside as a decoration after extensive painting inside and out of the box.

Yeah. It's pretty funky. And it got REALLY heavy once I put the glass on it. Ha! This was my first time playing with a hot glue gun. Bought it just for this project. Oh well, I'm sending it anyway. There are also shell sticker accents on each of the four sides and a sandy colored candle inside.

See? How funny was that!

So....I'm not sure what else I'm doing. Believe it or not, this represents more in time and money than it appears. Heh. I can't send her any earrings because she has 00 gauge piercings (which I gather from a quick websearch is large) but I might make a bracelet or something. Not sure. I've been trying to avoid old standby items because we're specifically supposed to NOT send things we normally fall back on. (Teas, candles, incense, etc.) So jewelry kinda falls under that since I've sent jewelery a few times, but then, it IS also supposed to be a focus on the unique side of things. I might try playing with my new mica powder, make my OWN clay beads and send a bracelet like that. It'd be a first plus it'd be unique. Just not sure how the time schedule would be on that but it's high on the list of ideas. I'm also waiting to hear back from a friend who was going to make me a pouch for cost to include but I'm stressed because it's getting close now. I might need to make other arrangements if I don't have time to get it before the ship deadline.

Anyway, it's pretty empty right now even though the lantern and box took a bit of time each to make and time is ticking so I need to figure out how to round it off soon!
