NOTES: Reid/JJ/Coffee
WORD COUNT: 238
Reid thinks that if officially too early to be called into work and, if he were brave enough, he’d be telling Hotch off about it right now. Also, he was up late watching a four hour documentary on the Yellow-bellied Sapsucker that a bird watching friend from college had done. Plus he hasn’t had his coffee yet because he thought he’d be the last one to arrive - he usually is - and this time he was the first. So you can imagine how irked he really is. And since he’s the first to arrive, he has to be the one to start the coffee - even though JJ usually does it. Reid doesn’t mind that he has to make the coffee; he’s just really tired and coffee-less and its six thirty in the morning, for Christ’s sake. Just as Reid is pulling out the coffee powder . . . stuff, JJ walks in with two cups of steaming hot coffee in hand. Reid thinks he’s never been so happy to see this woman in his life, and that’s saying something because he’s usually very happy to see JJ. She smiles warmly at him, handing him a cup and setting her hand softly on his arm. He takes a sip and almost wants to moan because it’s perfect, just the way he likes his coffee.
“Thank you,” he breathes, sliding arm around her shoulders and tugging her in for a hug.
NOTES: 17-year-old Jack Hotchner
WORD COUNT: 157
Jack wakes up too early for it being the weekend, but he doesn’t mind because today he’s going to work with his dad. He knows that sounds so childish, but it’s not once you learn what his dad does for a living. He doesn’t really go to work with his dad, they just ride together. No, Jack likes working with Spencer. Spencer’s the best. He’s super smart and teaches Jack all kinds of new things every time they see each other. Jack would never admit it, but he’s pretty sure he’s got a crush on Spencer. Even though Spencer’s twenty-something years older . . . Jack’s seventeen now; it’s not like there’s that much of a difference, he tells himself. Shaking his head, Jack gets up to take a shower. He skips shaving in the shower in the hopes that Spencer might notice the stubble that’s grown since he last shaved and realize Jack’s not so young.
NOTES: drunken Reid/Morgan
WORD COUNT: 196
Derek knew he was drunk; that much he did know. What he wasn’t sure of was the skinny boy in front of him, pressing against him. It looked like Reid, but Derek could hardly believe Reid would even do that because it’s Reid and Reid is awkward and quiet and so not dominant like this boy in front of him right now. Except it is Reid, only this Reid has dilated eyes, fussed up hair, and his shirt is pushed down over his shoulders, barely hanging off his arms. God, Derek loves button downs. Derek tries to figure out where he is, now that he knows who he’s with. Reid tugs at the hem of his shirt, shoving it up so that the cold metal behind Derek comes in contact with his skin and he’s gasping, not only because of the cold, but because of the pressure that feels so good all over him, especially below his waist. God, who knew Reid was this good - and this is drunken Reid! Derek can’t help but wonder how good a sober Reid would be. Instead he groans in pleasure and reaches his hands out, pulling Reid in closer.
NOTES: Reid/Morgan/Brown Eyes
WORD COUNT: 297
Derek hated when Spencer was upset. It affected his mood just as much. Derek supposes it’s because he cares about Spencer so much. He always notices what he’s doing, keeps tab on him. He tells himself he’s just watching out for the kid, but he knows it’s more than that. He teases him, but really he’s flirting. Spencer doesn’t notice - Derek’s kind of glad for that though. It’s also kind of really adorable to him, how innocent Spencer is. He’s not entirely innocent, Derek knows. He’s the reason for some of that, really. Derek’s sent Spencer out to look for girls plenty of times and he saw the photos of Lila and Spencer in the pool after that one case. He hated though photos, had them destroyed as soon as he could actually. He told himself it was so Spencer wouldn’t get in trouble. Derek sits in his little cubicle, the one beside Spencer’s, and he relaxes back in his chair, watching Spencer’s movements out of the corner of his eye. “Hey, Morgan?” and, damn it, Derek would just love to hear Spencer call him Derek just once. Derek looks up and catches sight of the bright, brown eyes. He smiles, can’t help but. “Yea, Spencer?” he says, watching Spencer’s beautiful eyes close enough to see the way they move when he uses Spencer’s first name. It’s rare that he does it. He’s good about not slipping up, usually. But those brown eyes catch him off guard every time. Then Spencer begins to ask him about a case they worked a few weeks back - he’s doing paperwork for JJ -and Derek has to shake his head so that he can focus and answer the questions correctly. He definitely doesn’t want Spencer thinking he’s stupid, now does he?
NOTES: Derek/Spencer/The Jet
WORD COUNT: 204
Reid hates and loves when they have to use the jet to get somewhere. It’s not a large jet and he almost always ends up sitting next to Morgan, just because Morgan prefers an aisle seat and Reid a window. Morgan will be sitting there, leaning across the table between them and Hotchner. Reid loves this table though. Because every once in a while, usually when they’re flying home after a particularly good case, Morgan’s hand will slide under the table to rest just a breath away from where Reid wants it. Morgan knows Reid wants it too because once, after one gruelingly tough case - where Reid had to shoot the killer, instead of take him in. Reid’s first kill - Morgan took Reid straight home after they got off the jet. The team assumed Morgan was taking him to a bar because, if anyone needed a drink right then, it was Reid. But when JJ tried to go with them, Morgan waved her off, leaving her to sulk alone about the case. Morgan drove too fast all the way back to his apartment and, once he’d parked in front of it, caught Reid’s lips in a bruising kiss before dragging him into the apartment.
NOTES: JJ/Reid/Food Network
WORD COUNT: 174
Reid wasn’t the most confident guy around, what with being teased all two years of high school, and then laughed at all through college for being so young. He wasn’t like Derek, who practically radiated confidence. But Reid thinks that’s okay because JJ doesn’t exactly love how cocky Derek is anyway. No, she likes Reid’s quiet presence that hovers just behind the line that makes it awkward. Now there’s no denying it that Reid can be awkward, especially around girl - and really really around girls he likes. So JJ’s totally use to his awkwardness and she’s kind of grown to love it. That’s why she asks him to stay in that night, instead of going out, like Garcia had told Reid to do. She asks him to stay in and that they’ll cook something for dinner.
“JJ, the only thing I know about cooking comes from the Food Network,” Reid admits, taking a seat at the bar in her kitchen, watching her tie an apron around her neck, then waist.
“Me too,” she grins, grabbing an apron.
