errrr, so i cut my hair and i have bangs now and i love them. they are a pain in the arse to do every morning though.

so i've been giving a lot of thought and prayer to what types of things i want to apply for next year, and i really think i'm going to apply to intern with sojourners. things are still up in the air though, especially since i don't really have to decide at this very moment.

i'm absolutely in love with the new death cab album. its perfect when i am not sleeping at night [which i haven't been... gotta love the insomnia]

my heart has been feeling a little lonely lately. the onset of fall and senior year and the beginning of the end has made me feel quite melancholy.

i just finished this A-MA-ZING book. It was written by Geoffry Canada, who runs Harlem Childrens Zone, which is this amazing nonprofit in NYC. It is called "Fist, Stick, Kinfe, Gun" and it's about growing up in the South Bronx in the 1960's, and how stakes changed after the New York Governor Rockefellers drug laws ushered children into the drugdealing business. It was absolutely horrifying, and I cried a lot while reading it and it broke my heart in more ways than I could ever fully express, but at the same time, I saw so much hope at the end. For me, it is so comforting to know that the Lord is just and that His heart breaks over the injustices in the world. And with good people out there trying to make a difference-there's hope. I was talking about the book with Amanda today, and I am going to look into future employment opportunities at the Harlem Childrens Zone (I looked a little the other night, and the one thing that caught my eye is being a social worker in it--especially since graduate school for social work is something I am consdering).

Well, I am going to go read the newspaper and finish my laundry and maybe even be a socialite tonight. Aiya.
