I only updated this a couple of days ago, but I wanted to express gratitude to those who expressed their apologies for their behaviour associated with the mess surrounding my sister, Zidane and my sister's friends. It's a huge relief to me to see and hear my sister starting to feel better thanks to this exchange of apologies. There are still some ( Read more... )

I am glad the situation's fizzled out. Even so, I still feel bad for my behavior. I probably shouldn't, but I still feel a bit...alienated.

Being the new person on campus and already creating rifts between myself and others keeps twisting the guilt even deeper.

I can understand why you do. Kairi and her friends have been here for far longer than yourself and Zidane, and they're well-connected and well-liked in the campus community. If one gets attacked, a wall goes up and the attacker 'feels the cold', so to speak. I've seen it happen before. I know that one of Kairi's friends, one whom I'm sure was the target of your words, is very ill in hospital now. Kairi spends a lot of time there, why don't you go and talk to her there? Then you could perhaps clear the air in person and talk to him too? I'm sure he has an apology to give as well.

But you don't have to feel alienated. You and I may have not talked before (I know your name through my sister) but I'm more than willing to go out and do things with you, like shopping or the theater. It'll be fun! I know what it's like to be the new person, so let me know if you ever want to get together and do things :)

It'll do us women good to get away from the men!

I don't think I'll be able to do that. Face-to-face conflicts are only my forte when the other person is running at me with the intent to kill.

Perhaps so. Anything with a penis tends to be bad news if it's over nine years old.

You're not in those situations anymore, Lightning. Things are different now; you'll have to face these kinds of confrontations every day. It's far easier to verbally confront a target that doesn't have the energy to be abusive back. That's what I've found, at least...

Haha, that's true! As soon as boys hit puberty, they're nothing but trouble!

You're right...I'll apologize, but whether or not I'm forgiven or an apology is given to me doesn't matter. The apologies to Kairi are all I care about. I've never wanted forgiveness.
