"Well, that says a lot. That says a lot, a lot, a lot. That's probably more than we should be getting into at this late hour."
He stops, feeling the weight of her head resting on his shoulder, and realises that she has fallen asleep
He reaches out and strokes her smooth cheek, watching her chest rise and fall with each sleeping breath. He wonders how she would feel, curled next to him in bed, her soft skin twining with his. He imagines the heat of her breath on his cheek, the red tinge of her hair on his pillow as the morning sun drifts lazily across her body. He pictures the slow smile that spreads across her face as she catches him watching her, and the look in her eyes that tells him to come closer.
He thinks of what it would be like to kiss her; her cheeks, her lip, her neck. Wonders how it would feel to pick her up and carry her to bed. But instead he lifts the worn comforter that lies on his couch and places it over her. That way madness lies.
