Because we all need yet another writing project this time of year.
I'd heard of Yuletide Treasure before, but had somehow gotten the impression that it was slash-only; happily, it turns out that it is anything but, and I'm sorry I've missed out on such a neat little fest.
We all have that one tiny microfandom that we're absolutely dying to see fic for and never do; Yuletide is designed around scratching that itch. Throw out four of your most out-there fandoms, and they will do their best to ensure you get a story in at least one of them--though sometimes you get more!--in exchange for doing the same for at least one other person out there. Unfortunately, the period for suggesting new fandoms is past, but the current list is pretty exhaustive; Dukes of Hazzard, Alien Nation, Equilibrium, Thundercats, and Kung Fu are ones I know some of you prowl for, and there's dozens more besides. (Someone out there is willing to write Nightmare Cafe fic; be still my heart...!)
I am definitely in this year, and I advise everybody to give it a look--signups are still open for another two weeks or so, so you've got time to think about it. Simply seeing some of these fandoms listed makes me smile; I can only imagine how cool it would be to make someone's day by actually producing content!
