i’m happy in a way i do not relate to

there you were
hat fixed
dressed best
waiting for an overcast
from the backdrop
to meet the end of the choir
lifting letters to the sun
watching paper live longer
climbing your eyelids for noone
unattempting to sing along
face first into a pillow
talking to your alarm clock
while glancing in the mirror
there you were
hat fixed
waiting for an overcast
from the backdrop
sitting like a weatherman
watching babies in pelicans
so fast of a wind you wear
looking good polariod polaris
impressing the river that never spoke
but somone had to swim after a good laugh
just to see your reflection
staring without mention
there you are
hat fixed
dressed best
waiting for a good story
all dressed up and nowhere but home
someone isn't there
black dress
glasses hit
finding you're the only crowd around everyone
noone feels the tide moon like you
and untied shoes
someone could come to knot you up
all well dressed
pin stripe iris
asking where you are
there you were
hat fixed
dressed best
waiting for your imagination
to pay off
blank pages into money
a wallet that reminds you that it's there
a penny for the gods
and you could be much more than that
you know
you could be so much more standing on your footsteps
without a worry if your skin cracks
waiting for an overcast
from the backdrop
