Dolores Umbridge is by far my favorite antagonist in the series. (Wha--Voldemort who?) She's so nasty and bubbly and wonderfully horrendous.

I like Kreacher, too, for all his awful, blind loyalty to the more wicked members of the House of Black as well as for his general nastiness. He is very creepy and kind of terrifying, I think!

Um. Voldemort as well, but it's been so long since I've read the first few books that my perception of Voldemort is sort of lacking? Disjointed. I think if I sat down and read it all from the beginning I'd find him more appropriately terrifying. (Sorry!)

Snape is neat, too, but I always feel weird talking about liking Snape on account of the sizeable contingent of fans who think him dreamy and wonderful and dangerously sexy. I like him because he is petty and oily and very unpleasant. And ambigious! Though I'll probably snap if I see those damned "SNAPE: FRIEND? / SNAPE: FOE?" posters at Borders ever again.

ALSO BELLATRIX IS FREAKY AS SHIT, and Sirius's mother's painting is vile and horrid and thus A+++ antagonist, minor annoyance though she is in the grand scheme of things.

Don't have an opinion on any of the Malfoys! Fandom burnt out any opinions I might've held, and I'll have to wait to reread the lot to decide whether or not I give a crap about Lucius and his merrily racist family.

I can get behind Umbridge. I loved the way she came off in the movie.

And I can also understand being burned out about the Malfoys and Snape and etc, though I have a soft spot for Narcissa, who struck me as 'I might be a racist, classist jerk, but I don't want to risk my life and my family for it, so the Dark Lord can go hang'.

(I also support the theory that Snape chose his side not by whatever ideological concerns, or 'good versus evil', or whatever, but based on which group of people he loathed least. He's a petty bastard, and that's okay.)

I have not seen the movie? And I hope I am not butting in-

VOLDEMORT-nowadays it's so hard to get up a real terror/revulsion for the MAIN VILLIAN, because he's just like YES I WANT TO KILL/ENSLAVE YOU ALL but that's so two dimensional.

They wrote a BOOK. A BOOK on whether snape was an enemy or not. It's like.....wait a few months?

AHAHAHA THESE PEOPLE ARE SCARY.

Why do so many people find Snape valiant and beautiful? He's, like, nasty. In every way. A little oily rat. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND. I was very puzzled by his casting. The actor who had played Filch would have been better for Snape with a little more hair. I MEAN, REALLY.
