Dear Sirs and Madams,

This letter is in support of Kristina Khoury’s application for admission. She has my strongest recommendation.

I am currently a Professor of English at Macomb Community College (Center Campus). I have been on the faculty at Oakland University, serving as Lecturer and then Special Lecturer in Rhetoric from 2000-2003. Therefore, I am familiar with the institution and its student body. This familiarity, in part, informs my recommendation.

Ms. Khoury has been my student in three English classes: composition, fiction, and poetry. In all three, she has shown good scholarship and, most importantly, an inquiring mind. In all three she has shown a willingness to take chances, not merely going through the motions to satisfy requirements as so many students do. This is the mark of someone who takes learning seriously and is likely to pursue graduate work.

Her papers for my courses regularly exhibit not only a good grasp of the material being studied but also a sardonic wit. The faculty of the department of her eventual major will gain a noteworthy opportunity to be mentor to a student who will reflect well upon OU.

I will be sorry to lose her as a student. If anyone would like to discuss Ms. Khoury’s abilities further, feel free to phone my office at .

Sincerely,

Clark Iverson
Professor of English
MCC (Center)

I seriously went teary eyed on this. This makes me realize I'm going to miss my professor more than I though.
