An ink on paper by the awesome Brian Corey

I was so looking forward to being in NYC tomorrow night for the art opening of a friend of mine at Pearl Street Gallery in Brooklyn's DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass) district. I haven't seen my friend Brian's work for a few years, since I last saw him. He used to do colorful oil portraits, and when I received the postcard for the opening, I couldn't believe how his style has changed. He's been working on his M.F.A. at MassArt since I last saw him. I love this new stuff and had to laugh when I read the name of the piece featured on the postcard: "Bionic Radiant Microcosm" (wow, Bri!) I was like, oh, I can't wait to see more of Brian's new stuff and party down in New York.

As my luck would have it, only an hour after getting the postcard I found out I now have to go to a funeral in Connecticut which occurs 3 hours before the opening. A distant relative of mine died, and while I feel sad for his family, I was like "Poo! Why does it have to be right when I'd be driving down for the opening?" I'm a selfish bitch, whatever. Oh well, if you're in NYC this weekend, go check out the show. And raise your little plastic glass of wine to toast Brian for me.
