Character: Jing
Series: Oodorobou Jing/King of Bandits: Jing
Version: Pre-Twilight Tales/after first series
Age: Even with seven volumes of the original series, his age still manages to go unknown. By appearance and attitude one could suppose that he is around the age of a young teenager. Judging by such characteristics, I will go ahead and say 15-16 by the time of King of Bandits. Adding a year or two for the version sake and you have someone who meets the 16-17 age.
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Treasuresexual Probably Heterosexual, but not pursuing a relationship of the romantic kind at the moment.
Appearance: His appearance is rather strange for one that is called the “King of Bandits”. While one would be expecting maybe an old or middle-aged man - the actual bandit is nothing more than what appears to be a child. He is somewhat small (only by a small fraction) and thin-looking for his age, though finding his exact measurements is somewhat of an impossible task to accomplish. (You wouldn’t be asking a mastermind criminal his height before he ran away, would you?) As far as complexion goes, he has a fairly light complexion without any scars. (Minus the swirly birthmark on his chest.) It is quite the contrast to his hair, which is of a raven tone and quite spiky as well. His eyes seem to take in both the light color of his skin and his dark hair and appear to be a gray color.
His clothing is somewhat casual for someone as 'imfamous' as well. He wears a rather long and somewhat tattered orange coat with white swirls on each of his upper arms. The coat doesn’t seem to be able to zip up or button like regular coats, and thus it is open to show the shirt and pants underneath it. (However, it does manage to conceal a blade under the right sleeve.) Due to having his shirt tucked in and a rather awkward belt with a plate in front of it, it almost seems as though his pants and shirt are of one piece, black outfit - but they are not. Finally, his shoes match the suit in colors and apparently can be snapped or clicked shut as opposed to lacing them.
Personality: Jing could be described as having a laid-back personality. For his age, he has an interesting sense of calm about him most of the times.
While he is not one with an ice-cold demeanor and is far from apathetic, he is far from being one of firey temperments as well. In truth, it is very rare, if at all to see the boy possess the emotion of pure rage. He seems to be able to maintain self-control when it comes to anger, and while he may get annoyed it is highly unusual for him to take it out on others or get too rilled up.
Of course, he does have some quirks in his personality that prove to be downfalls. He is naturally curious about things. This plays as an advantage to his ability to learn things quickly and obtain information but it can also get him into some pretty nasty situations. Although most of the time he manages to keep them in check, his recklessness and deviousness (the former moreso than the latter) sometimes get the best of him and make the situation worse.
For the most part though, he manages to avoid the worst of punishments. Some say it is due to his luck and some say it's due to his cunning nature as the King of Bandits. In truth, it's probably a combination of both.
Abilities/Weaponry: Jing is very athletic, being able to quickly evade has crushing blows as well as climb over high fences with almost perfect ease - just as well - being that he is a thief and all. He relies on agility and intellect, using these as a highly effective combination in battles. While he is only human, his abilities to merge these two powers make him much more.
For weapons, he uses whatever he picks up and can use. From strings to little signs and so forth and so on. His two favorite weapons are probably that of his switch-blade, which is hidden under his right arm, as well as Kir for the use of him in Kir Royale. However, since his partner is now human, the weapon is currently rendered useless.
Weaknesses: Jing is just like any human and can make any mistakes as such. Being human also means that he can get hurt just like any other - though he seems to have knack for being able to recover quickly from serious injury. (Instead of three to four days it may take only two days and a half or so for him to be up and moving. Nothing too amazing.)
As for personal weaknesses, his recklessness can sometimes get him into bad situations, but as stated in the Personality section, he usually weaves his way out of it without too much harm. However, being in Paixao might change his luck a bit seeing as many things are more powerful than him. Just as well, he cares for his partner, Kir, a lot - and can get overprotective and defensive about certain subjects involving him. He will also go to great lengths to keep Kir from harm and would probably, if necessary, give his life up for him.
Finally, his mom is a huge issue for him and acts as a double-edge sword in his life. Despite he doesn't display his feelings about her death and his connection to her as outwardly anymore now that he's older, he's still very close to her at heart. This could easily be used to enemy advantage if someone had enough knowledge.
History: There is almost little known history to know about him. What can be told is that he is an orphan and it seems as though his mother died at a young age (What happened to his father is another mystery.). His attachments to her still remained after her death, and he continued to live in his mom's house alone even though he was still small. He also had friends by the names of Pomme, Mint, Clove, and Cassis there who visited him quite often. Even when he was young he showed qualities of leadership and intelligence since he was young - for within the group of children he was the leader as well as watched over them as well and did his best to help his friends out when they were in danger. For all of the good qualities he displayed when he was young, however, he also displayed characteristics that foreshadowed his future as a thief.
Soon enough the boy and his bird friend named Kir went on many adventures in their own lands. From the City of Thieves to Sungria, and even to a city with the ‘secrets’ to eternal life. All around he went, stealing and having adventures. Just as well he seemed to replay those he had met with greater gifts of family, life, and emotional closure. In a sense, while he was regarded as “The King of Bandits”, he seems to have given more than he could ever take from the world. Though, if he wanted to he could probably even take the stars.
Yet, soon he finds himself now separated from his dearest companion and thrust into a new world in which he has never known about before. How will he react in such new settings? And what new adventures will he find there?
