Takeru and Patamon, as usual, had spent the majority of their day doing nothing of any value whatsoever. To the casual observer, at least. To the skilled child psychologist, it was obvious that the relationship they were building would blossom into one of eternal trust and friendship. Something like that, anyway.

When the monsters entered town, Takeru had just bought a gigantic lollipop. The flat kind with a rainbow swirl sure to guarantee an entire day's worth of sugar high. As he began to raise it to his mouth, a scream rent the air -- The lollipop dropped to the ground and shattered.

"Wh . . . What was that?!"

His question was answered soon enough as a feral Cat smashed through the candy stand, destroying the products and sending Takeru reeling to the ground.

"T-Takeru!"

Danny had also been doing nothing of any value. He had just been walking through town when he heard a sudden commotion. Growing curious and somewhat worried, Danny approached the scene and found a group of strange creatures. Those definitely looked pretty dangerous, and Danny began scrambling for something to do. The answer came after a moment of hesitation.

Danny ran off to the side and hid behind a tree, making sure no one would see. There, he transformed and flew out to the scene of the crime as Danny Phantom, landing beside the kid who'd been attacked.

"What's going on here?" he asked, green energy surrounding his hands just in case the monsters attacked or pounced again. He didn't really want to hurt them if they were only after lollipops, after all.

"Owww...what the hell?"

Guts wasn't entirely sure how he felt about discovering that the weird thing on his neck was more than just a static mark, considering that this revelation was physically painful. Nothing extortionate, luckily; just a twinge that made his hackles raise. His hand automatically settled itself on the hilt of the huge sword permanently situated on his back. Something was up. Just as well he'd been sparring with Ike for the past few days...

He heard the mess before he saw it, rounding a corner to find a mess of market stalls and bewildered people and a handful of...monsters? Yep, definitely monsters. That was great. Just peachy. And there were two kids standing around staring at-- wait, was that a flying pig?! Well, that didn't seem so odd when pitted against walking dead guys (was this what happened when the healers brought people back to life? Guts wanted no part of that, thank you all the same) and something that looked like ambulatory vomit ( ... )

Things were only going to get worse.

Or louder, anyway.

"I'M SO SORRYYYYYYY!"

An effeminate scream echoed into the marketplace, and a hysterical man in a kimono was running out of one of the stores. Following him was a 'Redead', a low, moaning monster, dragging itself along and going after the crying mess. Probably not noticing the group that had gathered nearby, the man suddenly whipped around, and got on his hands and knees, apologizing to the thing that looked ready to kill him.

"I'm so sorry sir!" he shrieked, as it came closer, arms outstretched. "Please forgive me for being so terribly and utterly frightened of you! This disgusting, weak soul of mine can't bear to face you without feeling utmost fear! I'm sorry for my weakness!"
