X-Files 25th Anniversay

Happy Thanksgiving!

Well, today is my 25th anniversary of becoming an X-Files fan.  Way back in the 90's, the FX channel would do an all-day Thanksgiving X-Files marathon.  In 1997 (when I was 14!), my cousin, who was spending Thanksgiving with us, said I should see this show, so we sat and watched a few episodes.  I don't remember which episodes they were, though I'm pretty sure Home was in there and I know the night ended with Memento Mori.  I remember this vividly because I had been getting attached to the characters all evening, and when the Memento Mori hug came at the end, I feel immediately and head-over-heels for Mulder/Scully. My fall into fandom and becoming a phile was quick after that.  I was already on the internet at that point, so I quickly found all the major XF sites and caught up on the mythology, the current season (season 5), and the huge shipper fandom. My first new episode was Detour.  Those were some great times.  The X-Files movie came out the next year, and season 5 to this day is my favorite.  The X-Files played a huge role in my formative teenage years, and it's amazing to think it's been a part of my life for 25 years now.  While it's long-gone (and hopefully never revived again), I still go back occasionally and read fic, watch videos, or have a good ol' X-Files marathon with my friend.  I still get a silly little thrill inside when the time is 10:13, and I hope I always do.  Here's to 25 more years!
