Where another day goes by

And the big news story of the day today is that John Sergeant from Strictly Come Dancing has pulled out. This Saturday will be his last week on the show. For everyone who isn't as obsessed as I am, Strictly is a dance competition, the USA equivalent being Dancing with the Stars. Every season there is usually someone who can't dance but manages to get the public support and makes it through week after week beating much better but far less entertaining couples.

This is the shot of him dragging his partner Kristina in a very hilarious fashion across the dance floor. And it was one of the most funniest things I have seen on TV in a long time.

But the fact that he has decided to quit today has really caused uproar on the internet. I visited one blog, the msn one and the amount of people there who were outraged by the bullying he had to put up with and the pressure he felt which caused him to resign, actually surprised me. It was obvious that people liked him but I didn't know they liked him THAT much. But they do, they really do.

The whole conflict surrounds the fact that the judges only contorl half of the votes. It is the public who get to decide who they are going to save. And week after week they have decided to save John and Kristina. And now, the judges have become more and more angry with this, verbally telling the public who not to vote for (even though they have denied this but it is so obvious that's what they are doing). Even other dancers have been saying it is his time to leave (on TV no less).

Now I think he is a terrible dancer, absolutely rubbish. He works and sweats and has lost a lot of weight but it seems to make no difference on the dance floor. But watching him is hilarious and the hightlight of the programme (most nights anyway). And even though it is a dance competition it is an entertainment show first and foremost. The judges have such a problem with the enterainment side and maybe they should leave. All they have to do is judge, nothing else. But I also kind of agree with them-he can't dance. But I don't like the way he has left. He should be the viewrs who decide who leaves not internal bullying.

Anyway, now that I have ranted about that I can move onto other subjects. The annoying housemate is back. Actually I think I have already mentioned that, not sure though. But yes, and since he has been back he has been avoiding the rest of us like the plague. As much as I love that arrangement it is weird living in a house with someone who acts more like a noise ghost than anything else.

In other more exciting news, I am going back to London next week! And finally I get to celebrate my 21st birthday in style. Meeting all my London friends and going out and meeting family and going out. And all the presents! I always love that part of growing up, I love the gifts! It makes the transition far easier. I remember the day I turned 18. I met one of my friends and the first thing she said to me was 'you're face! You look so disappointed that I haven't come bearing gifts.' And it was true. I tried to smile and look happy to see her on my birthday but she was empty handed. I think I am very lucky that my firends understand my odd behaviours.

And yesterday, for all of you who are Stephenie Meyer fans, was the World Premiere of Twilight. And I wish I was there! The books do nothing for me and even the stars in the movie, but as another friend pointed out, I am a junkie. It is addictive, all that autograph hunting. The camping in the cold and the no personal space and the sheer awkwardness of the whole thing.

I miss it! I missed the London 'Changling' premiere with Angelina Jolie-I am kicking myself and my Uni right now. I bet Brad Pitt was there, but I don't actually want to do any research to find out the truth because if he was there then I will never get over it.

xoxo
