Where I recommend some books!

I love to read. And since I have an essay to do I am reading more than ever. Currently I am in the middle of 'Nation' by Terry Pratchett.

If any of you have read his other books I am warning you now that this book is completely different. It isn't laugh-out-loud every minute, neither is it as flippant as the rest. This is a story about how a wave destryed a nation leaving only one survivir, a 13 year old boy who has to suddenly be a man. His companion is the survivor of a ship-wreck, Daphne and the dead-Captain's parrot who loves to swear. It is actually a really interesting and touching read. I haven't finished it yet but I have decided to take my time reading it.

I am also in the middle of 'Silent in the Sanctuary' by Deanna Raybourn.

Now this is a sequel to the brilliant 'Silent in the Grave.' The first book is about Lady Julia Gray and her attempts to solve the murder of her husband. The first line of 'Grave' was all that it took to get me hooked into it. 'To say I met Nicholas Brisbane over my husband's dead body is not entirely accurate. Edward, it should be noted, was still twitching upon the floor.' Now after reading that you can't tell me you don't want to find out more. I love the way Ms. Raybourn has mande Lady Julia's family absolutely intergral to the plot. They are hilarious and mad and absolutely brilliant reading. The second book starts a while after the first one in Italy and even though I have only read a few pages, I am hooked!

I am also in the middle of 'The Princess Bride' by William Goldman.

And most of you must have seen the movie. If you haven't stop reading and go watch the movie NOW. It is that good and that brilliant and that spectacular. If you have seen it you know just how enjoyable it is. Well, all I can tell you is that the book is better. There is so much more in the books than in the movie. I am loving reading all the extra things that seem to complete the movie. Highly recommended.

And the last thing that I am reading is something that I am not readin at all. Actually the last book is a book that I am listening to. I always have to listen to a book on my phone. I hate to not have talking around me! I am listening to is 'Death in the Stocks' by Georgette Heyer.

I love a gold old fashioned murder mystery. Ever since I discovered the works by Agatha Christie, I have widened my reading to other authors who have also set their books during the same time. 'Death in the Stocks' is set in 1930's Britain. A local constable finds a man stabbed to death, his body pinned in antique stocks in the town green. I haven't listened to very much but already my brain is trying to figure out just who is guilty. So far the motive seems abvious, but who knows what the answer is?
