Through the Letterbox (10)

Through the Letterbox explores the contents of my mailbox on a weekly basis. Of course I only mention the really cool things, like books! If you would like to participate and have your own “In My Mailbox” post, you can find more information here. (This post was inspired by Alea of Pop Culture Junkie.) Thanks The Story Siren for this!

I managed to get some really good stuff this week so I am happy!

The Book of Luke by Jenny O'Connell

When nice girl Emily Abbot's family moves from Chicago back to Boston in the middle of her senior year, Emily and her two best friends come up with a plan that is not so nice. It's a project for their class time capsule, but it won't be the typical scrapbook or mix CD. They'll write a handbook for guys about girls. And who better to test out their theories on than arrogant Luke Preston? Emily, the three friends decide, will be the perfect person to try it out and report back. After all, Luke would never suspect the nice little Emily he knew way back when...But Emily's not what she used to be.

Plan B by Jenny O'Connell

Vanessa has her life all planned out. All she has to do is survive the next nine months of senior year at the prestigious and private Cabot Academy, ace her SATs, and then spend a year touring Europe with her best friend, Taylor. After that, she'll be more than ready to enroll at the same college in Connecticut that her boyfriend, Patrick, attends, and life will be perfect.

Except life isn't perfect, and it's the definite fault of Reed Vaughn, Hollywood "It" guy, the most good-looking hottie to have graced the planet with his existence in the last several years. Taylor is already ga-ga over him, and although Vanessa can appreciate his good looks, she's not entirely sure about his appeal. Appeal is the last thing on her mind, though, when she finds out that there's more to Reed Vaughn than meets the eye--he's actually her half-brother, the son her father never knew he had.

When it Happens by Susan Colasanti

When her senior year starts, Sara's attention is focused on college and on Dave. Dave is a new student and a popular athlete, and Sara thinks he may just be a candidate for the "something real" she wants to find. Tobey, however, is focused on his music and on Sara. He wants Sara to fall in love with him (as he is in love with her, despite the fact that the two are not close), but unfortunately he's got Dave as competition.

Two-Way Street by Lauren Barnholdt

Courtney and Jordan are about to begin a three day trip from their homes in Florida to their college orientation in Boston. Usually this would be cause for excitement, but this trip is bound to be uncomfortable. The reason is because, two weeks ago, Jordan broke up with Courtney, supposedly because he met a girl on MySpace. Since the plans for the trip have already been made, Courtney's parents are insisting that she stick with those plans and travel with her ex all the way to Boston.

Sticky Fingers by Niki Burnham

Jenna Kassarian strives to have everything in her life exactly how she wants it--perfect. She has the perfect boyfriend, the perfect friend, and the perfect grades that got her into the top college of her choice. Jenna enjoys working hard because, in the end, it actually pays off. Now that everything seems to be going her way, and it's her last year of high school, all she wants to do, well, actually all her boyfriend wants her to do, is relax and enjoy life. Unfortunately for Jenna, relaxing just isn't in her vocabulary.

So now Jenna is trying her best to let go and have fun. That's not at all possible if what she has worked for has started to change. Her best friend is beginning to act weird and her boyfriend is pressuring her even more for their "first time". Along with that, it seems like her best friend is keeping something from her, something that just might have to do with Jenna's boyfriend.

Acheron
by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Eleven thousand years ago a god was born. Cursed into the body of a human, Acheron endured a lifetime of hatred. His human death unleashed an unspeakable horror that almost destroyed the earth. Brought back against his will, he became the sole defender of mankind. Only it was never that simple...For centuries, he has fought for our survival and hidden a past he never wants revealed. Now his survival, and ours, hinges on the very woman who threatens him. Old enemies are reawakening and uniting to kill - them both.

And that's it!

What did you all get?

Live Long and Prosper
