It was really good! And they were discussing the state of YA literature in this country so I had fun and learnt something!

Do you live in the UK? I do and for all my author events I use www.waterstones.com and on their website there is an events section where they list all the stuff that is happening in waterstones stores across the country in that month. Since I am not longer studying I am indulging in that!

I love that website! They have so much stuff going on and if you can't make it but love an author, then they are more than happy to post the book out to you :D

Do Borders do things like that?

We do have author events, but not many teen ones. We reserve books for people though!

What was Jenny V like? I love her books! Broken Soup is amazing.

She and the other authors were discussing the state of YA literature and her opinions usually different from Mr. Burgess' and Mr. Brooks'. She didn't think that there is a difference between the way female YA authors write compared to male YA writers - people just write differently, all people.

She also talked about how she loves to write about strange freindships within her books and that in the Ant Colony she wrote one of the most optimistic characters ever.

She also argued that teen writing is not fading out. Books written today will not be outdated tomorrow. People will always read teen fiction because it deals with issues that will never go away. That was another topic - do teenagers still exist? She argued that they do, they go through the issues that she went through, maybe at a different time in their life but it happens.

And that's all I can remember!

Thanks for that - it all sounds really interesting! I agree what she said about teenagers still existing. Of course they do!

So do I! I assumed that they were referring to the fact that children seem to be growing up faster than before, but they did not seem to agree with that (and that is my opinion). They seemed to think that children grew up later and as a result went straight to adulthood and adult books.
