And I figured that the text wouldn't be to everyone's tastes -- reason why I made an icon without it too, in that post's variations section. XD

I could try that, yes. In general, though, I've started to steer clear of using text in my icons -- with only two or three exceptions, it's not really my strong suite.

My only gripe is that of recent, you haven't been playing around with textures a lot, just adding in extra gleam in the icons. I would love to see variations with and without textures ^^ Though I know its difficult for you since you lost most of your textures recently

Yes, I'm still re-building my large cache in Photoshop (there's a few that I really regret losing, since they looked nice with a wide variety of colorings and croppings).

The main problem with textures, however, is that they're very hit-or-miss. For every decent-looking icon that I made with a lot of textures, at least ten others looked absolutely dreadful (reason why I've been sticking mostly to light textures and color layers lately, given that they're generally safer and less time-consuming ^^;;)

I'm not a big icon maker myself so I can't really give the best criticism, but I have to say I absolutely love that Judai icon ♥ The simple lighting effects on your icons are great. ~ If I had to pick out one thing, I'd agree with motionesque on the "crusader" text looking a little out of place on the Johan & Judai one, but I'm not a huge text-on-icon person either. xD Still, they're all awesome.
