A lot of the recipes are pretty labor- and time-intensive, but so far they give wonderful results, and it's worth it, especially if you make lots and eat it for days. I cut corners in one way on this one: I didn't "peel & seed" the tomatoes, an instruction which strikes me as enormously pointless.

Alex, now three and a half, continues to thrive. She spends Sunday afternoon and night at her grandparents', and goes to preschool Monday mornings, and loves it. She recently got a bicycle and helmet, and can do puzzles with up to about 50 pieces on her own. The problems with tantrums seem to be pretty much behind us, and now she usually does a quick timeout when instructed to. We had a prolonged period when we had to keep one of her hands securely bandaged like a mitten because she kept scratching it raw as it was trying to heal from an initial eczema problem, but we're finally through that too. Her grandma said there was a little boy in her preschool class who was going on and on to his mom about how much he liked Alex and how pretty she is.
