early Christmas

Dec 23, 2007 00:38

The last couple days have been a lovely early-Christmas, since D. will be down at her mom's for calendar-Christmas. We've decorated the tree, which is astonishingly sparkly with light and totally covered with all different ornaments, and we didn't even use everything. We've had luxurious dinners lasting many hours and courses. We've sat around talking and cuddling and reading and opening D's presents.

Yesterday had some bad points, too. Alex fell on her face on the sidewalk (again), and skinned her nose and forehead, but she's fine. I'm short on sleep due to her recent teething. And we're still dealing with our incompetent and/or fraudulent insurance company saying we didn't have coverage for her birth, when that was the very point of our getting the coverage we did. I was stressed yesterday with all that, but I'm better now. Lots of good food and warm fuzzies will do that.

Alex continues to acquire words and signs. I'm sure I'm not managing to record them all. She said "wet" out loud today. She's been enthusiastically saying and signing "ball" the past few days. She and I had a long walk today to Bootyland (much longer than necessary, since I misremembered where the store was, but fortunately we had the stroller with us), which turned out not to have any of the toy I had come for. I wanted a push toy with a rainbow swirl of rope bits on top, and they're not going to have any until next month sometime. Bah.
